HAPPINESS - IS ALL IN YOUR MIND

HAPPINESS IS ALL IN YOUR MIND

For happiness really, it's all in the mind and you can access it, if you
allow yourself. We all know that it's not possible to be happy every minute
of the day, but it is possible to learn how to access a peace of mind when
we're going through a wobbly time.
One of the simplest and most effective strategies is Mindfulness. What is
it?
Well, think of the opposite: mindlessness, a heedless, often chaotic way of
living, which may work sometimes, but is unreliable and has disastrous
results. Then consider what life would be like if you could slow your
thoughts and feelings, keep the helpful ones and discard those that were
harmful and know that you could at any time choose to feel peaceful. Your
life could then be gentler, calmer, and smoother and yes more joyful. It's
almost a bit like Self-Talk I find.
Practising Mindfulness is essentially Meditation. That can be an off-putting
word I know, but you don't need to sit in a corner crossed- legged and chant
'Om', so don't worry. Experts say that anything you focus on can be
mediative, like washing up, walking to the train, eating, and daydreaming.
It's the quality of being so anchored in the present instant that you fully
inhabit your being and your environment.
How many things do you do in your daily life that's on Autopilot? The people
you talk to without listening, reading without retaining a word of it,
eating so fast you hardly taste a thing, things like that. Being mindful is
'Noticing'; bringing your attention to the present, Savour the Moment.
Instead of say taking the dog out for a walk and finding it a chore, notice
the leaves on the trees, how wonderful the park looks. Be aware of the world
around you and what you're feeling. I bet you start to feel better about
'stuff' and your life and won't be in such a rush all the time.
I put in into practice the other day when my toddler was having a tantrum.
Instead of doing what I usually do and start getting annoyed and shouting, I
just let her ride it out and thought to myself, it will be over soon, it's
just frustration and in a moment it will be forgotten. I know this is
trivial and when your world is crumbling around you, it's hard to see the
positive.
But if you do one thing on the path of happiness, do this. During the day
remember that negative, damaging thoughts are just the crazy bits of your
mind going on a rampage. Don't fight them just observe them. Then turn your
attention to good, important and beautiful things you can think and do
instead.
Doing Less And Noticing More Can Help Us Thrive in a Stressed-Out World.
"COME LET US ALL BE HAPPY"
HAPPINESS IS HEALTH
LET US TRY
IT IS NOT ALL THAT DIFFICULT
