Firmness of purpose
Through freedom from delusion there arises steadfastness. When you are free from delusion, you develop clarity of thinking. With a clear intellect, you develop a firm conviction in Truth. You become steadfast and consistent in your noble activities. You evolve spiritually.
The tendency of mind to seek the instant pleasures from the world destroys your consistency of purpose and steadfastness. Instant pleasures of the world divert your attention from your purpose. The mind has a false belief that the world offers joy. The mind develops an expectation that life should be smooth and it loses the stamina to endure the difficulties. Thus, you lose the ability to be steadfast.
