In an earlier match Tottenham outplayed Bournmouth 5-1 after Bournemouth had gone ahead with the fastest goal of the season in the opening seconds through Matt Ritchie. Harry Kane scored a hat-trick and Lemela and Dembele scored one each for Spurs. In a fight between two bottom placed teams Sunderland defeated ten-men New Castle 3-0 after Caloccini was red carded just before the interval. Sunderland used the numerical advantage to their advantage and scored three through Adam Johnson Billy Jones and Fletcher. Manchester City regained their lead at the top of the table with a better goal difference than Arsenal West Ham is third and Manchester United is fourth.
