England denied victory by poor light The first test between Pakistan and England at Abu Dhabi ended in a thrilling draw after England were given an unexpected shot at victory by leg spinner Adil Rasheed who took 5 wickets for 64 runs and helped in dismissing Pakistan for 173 run. This gave England 20 overs to get 99 runs and win the test a seemingly easy task but not so easy when considering that poor light had stopped play on every day of the test. English batsmen started their innings with intent throwing their bat at everything but could reach only 74 for 4 in eleven overs 25 runs short when umpires decided to call of play. Alistair Cook was declared the man of the match for his marathon 263. Incidentally Cook also broke Sir Leanard Huttons record for the longest time spent at the wicket for an innings by an Englishman.
