Honey Rose-from Vinayans Boyfriend to Mohanlals Kanal. Honey Rose is flowering. The bold and beautiful actress of Malayalam cinema has come a long way from her rather sedate debut in Vinayans Boyfriend which came out in 2005.The actress is an atypical Malayalam heroine so to speak with her unconventional but gorgeous looks. It was no cakewalk for Honey to slowly but steadily establish herself in Malayalam cinema with roles in some big ticket projects opposite some of the biggest names in the industry. After Boyfriend which happened when she was a teenager Honey didnt prosper in the manner she would have liked. In 2006Honey was seen in a non-Malayalam project Ee Varsham Sakshiga in Telugu and later she acted in her first Tamil film Mudhal Kanave.Being part of Muthyala Subbiahs 50th film Aalayam gave her real foothold outside Malayalam. But Honey was waiting eagerly for a real big break in her mother tongue Malayalam. Then Trivandrum Lodge the Anoop Menon scripted V.K.Prakash movie happened and things started to be rosy for her.She played a very audacious character named Dhwani Nambiar a woman with extremely liberal views about life.It was a character that wasnt steamy but the way the character shaped up Honey unexpectedly got an image of being different from her contemporaries who generally played it safe. She even went to the extent of changing her on screen name to Dhwani but later reverted to her original name.Honey made a ravishing appearance opposite Fahad Fazil in the Anwar Rasheed directed short film Amy in the portmanteau film 5 Sundarikal. In between she completed another Tamil project. She also played a notable character of a nun called Sister Elsita in director Deepeshs Pithavinum Puthranum Parisudhathmavinum. She joined hands again with V.K.Prakash and Anoop Menon in Hotel California which failed to make any impact. Honey landed a plum role opposite megastar Mammootty in G.Marthandan directed Deivathinte Swantham Cleetus. She played a character that was much elder than her actual age.But she looked at ease sharing screen space with the legendary actor Mammootty. After a hiatus Honey returned to a bold role in You too Brutus in which she was seen as an singer and model who falls in love with a married man.Honey again did the role of a mother of a kid in Jayasuryas movie with a dark and serious premiseKumbasaram. After a disappointing outing in Jayarams Sir CPHoney fulfilled her abiding ambition of acting opposite superstar Mohanlal. Honey acted as the wife of Mohanlal in M.Padmakumar directed Kanal which released last weekend.Interestingly she is a mother of four kids in this movie and she looked convincing opposite the stalwart actor. Looking at the way she has evolved as an actress over a decade it appears that Honey is here for the long haul. The actress who got the image of being a glamorous star during the mid phase of her careerlater made it emphatically clear that she would be hesitant to act in intimate scenes.Honey Rose has proved her mettle as an actress and she is one of the few actresses around who can act as the heroine of both the senior actors and the young guns of Malayalam cinema.M.Mohanan directed My God and another movie opposite Anoop Menon directed by M.Padmakumar are among the projects that are lined up for her. Honey will be hoping that her career will move to the next level after Kanal which has opened to mixed reviews but with a thumbs up for her character.
