Usman Khawaja followed Warner with a brilliant 174 and all other Australian batsmen contributed their mite in building the huge total. New Zealand had a good start with Martin Guptill and Tom Latham adding 56 for the first wicket and another stand of 46 for the second wicket between Latham and Williamson. But then Starc and Johnson got to work and wickets tumbled rapidly with only Williamson looking confident. At close New Zealand were 157 for 5 with Williamson on 55 and Watlington on 14.
