Big win for India at Mohali India defeated South Africa by a convincing margin of 108 runs in the first test at Mohali with two days to spare after South Africa were bowled out in their second innings for 109 runs. Earlier India were dismissed for 200 in their second innings after they were 161 for 2 at one stage with Poojara and Kohli going strong. Spinners Imran Nazir and Harmer changed the complexion and each took 4 wickets while dismissing India for 200. Poojara played sensibly and was the top scorer with 77. Set a target of 218 South Africa started badly and lost wickets regularly and only Stiaan Van Zyl with a score of 38 could offer any challenge to the bowlers. Roles of Ashwin and Jadeja were reversed in the second innings with Jadeja taking 5 wickets and Ashwin 3. In a bowler dominated match Murali Vijay with scores of 75 and 47 as well as Poojara with 31 and 77 stood out. However Ravindra Jadeja with figures of 3 for 55 and 5 for 21 and a valuable first innings score of 38 was elected the man of the match.
