Kolkata beat blasters with an injury time goal

Kolkata beat Blasters with an injury time goal In a thrilling game of football played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium at Kaloor in the Hero Indian Super League where both teams played an attacking game Atletico de Kolkata managed to come out on top winning by an injury time goal scored by Arata Izumi after Antonio German had equalised for Kerala in the 85th minute to set up a rousing finish. Kolkata dominated in the first half and deservedly scored the first goal in the 39th minute when Mohanraj timed his run beautifully to meet a perfect cross from the right and head in for the first goal. Sanchez Watt was injured in the 39th minute and his replacement Antonio German set the stadium alight just two minutes into his introduction with a perfect chesting down and shooting but to the chagrin of the home crowd the ball went just wide. But in the 42nd minute he made amends by slotting in from a spot kick awarded for a blatant foul inside the box. It was all to play for at the interval and it was a different picture when the play restarted with German making a big difference between the two teams. His ferocious right footer to the top left corner was brilliantly saved by Amritsar Singh and when a goal by the Blasters looked imminent against the run of play Kolkata scored in the 84th minute the goal coming in very fortuitous circumstances. A cross from Arata Izumi meant for the box beat all including the goalkeeper to hit the inside of the second post and go in. The crowd was silenced but erupted again when in the very next minute German sent a thunderous left footer into the bottom right corner to make it two all. Kerala attacked looking for the winner and were all over the Kolkata team but in the process made the elementary mistake of leaving the defense wide open allowing for Arata Izumi to run and meet a cross from the right and place it comfortably to the left of the goalkeeper. This happened in the injury time and it was too late for Kerala to come back again. Kerala are struggling with 8 points from 9 games while Kolkata has climbed to fourth position with 13 points.
