Batting first the Blasters got off to a rousing start with an opening stand of 85 between Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar. Sehwag reminded us of his heydays with a superlative 55 made in just 22 balls with six 6s. After both of them got out at the same score the batting failed to combat the guile of Warne and could reach only 140 for 8 in 20 overs. Warne claimed the wickets of Tendulkar Laxman and Lara in his figures of 3 for 20. Warriors hit off the required runs in 17.2 overs with Ricky Ponting playing the sheet anchor role and remaining unbeaten on 48 made in 38 balls. Kumara Sangakara scored 41 in 29 balls. Muthiaia Muraleedharan bowled well taking one wicket while conceding 18 runs and Shoib Akhtar was his old fiery self with 2 for 26.
