KURAI ONDRUM ILLAI MARAI MURTHY KANNA

Nandhidha - God's child - A dancing legend

The Auditorium is filled with crowds of audience, chief guests, art work and attractive sets done by the famous Film Art director Thotta Dharani, likewise everything in the auditorium looks special and ultimate. All this arrangement is dedicated to that young talented blessed girl Nandhidha. Here are the few aspects which may be of interest to those who want to see beyond Nandhidha’s dance.

Nandhidha’s arangetram or debut, freezed all the audience and they couldn’t feel that it is an arangetram, she performed like a legend and gave out her full fledged talent.

Nandhidha, daughter of the famous Eye specialist Chandar Nerur, is studying class 8th in KFI (Krishnamurti Foundation India) school, Chennai. Dance is Nandhida’s breath, smile, happiness, love, and passion, even more than her life. She loves Bharathanatiyam to its core.

Manjula Nerur, mother of Nandhidha says, “When Nandhidha was 3yrs old, she often gets leg pain. Returning from school, she will say her legs are paining. We the parents thought that it’s a usual thing that happens to every growing child at this age and took that issue very lightly. One day she got a severe pain and we came to know that Nandhidha was born with a congenital abnormality and was diagnosed as having Kypho Scoliosis when she was 3 yrs old. Her condition was such that her spine was bent and therefore would result in her growing sideways as every growth spurts, leaving her severely deformed.

Surgery was the only option, but the prognosis was very grave, leaving with total paralysis and even loss of life being a possibility. When she was 7 yrs old she underwent a major spine surgery performed by Dr.John P Lubicky in USA.

A Titanium rod was inserted into her spine to hold it in place and a number of vertebrate were fused together to prevent that part of the spine from growing. After many months of painful rehabilitation, she returned to India wearing a protective fiber optic brace, which looked like armor around her body, it was to be worn continuously for the next 18 months except for when she sleeps.

Her brace was removed when she was 9 yrs old and Dr.Lubicky asked her what she wanted to do next. Instead of saying that she wants to run or play, she surprised everyone by saying that she wanted to learn Bharathanatiyam.

With the doctors permission, she joined in Krishnakumari Narendran’s Natyalaya

Those who knows about Nandhidha will say ‘She is a God’s child’, I don’t have a word more than this for her!!!” Manju Nerur can’t expound anymore, simply wiping out the tears.

The flawless arangetram or debut begins with the varnam and continued by “kurai ondrum illai” song.

The performance shows her endless fonts of courage and determination. She is an inspiration to many others and deserved to be a God’s child. Her life journey has been a long and testing one.She has passed out with flying colours.

SHE MAY HAVE BEEN A DOCTOR'S CHILD, BUT THEN WE ARE ALL GOD'S CHILDREN

FAITH, HOPE, DETERMINATION, WILL AND A NOT GIVING UP ATTITUDE CAN WORK MIRACLES IN OUR LIFE.
