The knowledge of the Truth dispels Bondage..
When youth is spent, where is lustful play? When water is evaporated, where is the lake? When wealth is gone, where are the dependents? When truth is known, where is worldly bondage?
When water evaporates, there is no lake. The lake of the mind is full of greed and passion. The desires cause worldly bondage. When desires are gradually sublimated and volatilized through the fire-of-knowledge and understanding of higher values, there is no longer bondage. You gain freedom from sufferings of life.
When wealth is gone, where are the dependents? Your dependents and relations flock to you so long as you can look after them while you have something to offer to them. When you lose your wealth, you lose your dependents as well. Similarly, when you lose your spiritual wealth within, you also lose the wealth of enjoyment of life and you lose peace and happiness. Spiritual wealth and material wealth subsist together. You cannot segregate your spiritual life and material life, if you want to find a meaning and purpose in life.
Using the same epigrammatic analogy at the subjective level of the individual, the Guru says “when truth is known, where is the worldly bondage? The existence of a rope on the ground creates the misunderstanding of a snake and creates fear and anxiety. Once the rope is recognized as a rope, the fear of the snake disappears. Similarly, non-apprehension of the Truth produces the misapprehension of the world and sorrows and suffering thereof. The world you experience is an imaginary projection because of ignorance of the Reality. You chase the world created by your own imagination.
