India win test series against sri lanka

India win test series against Sri Lanka India won the Colombo test beating Sri Lanka by 117 runs and thus clinched the series 2-1 marking a brilliant debut as captain for young Virat Kohli who handled his bowlers well in the whole series. Sri Lanka 67 for 3 overnight lost two more wickets by the time the score had reached 107 but a determined batting display by skipper Angelo Mathews and Kusal Perera looked set to save the team from defeat and at tea they were 249 for 6 having just lost Kusal Perera for 70 after a partnership of 135 for the sixth wicket with Mathews. India s hope was pinned on the new ball which did the tricks all through this test. Kohli took the new ball immediately after tea and sure enough Ishant trapped Mathews plump in front in the very first over for 110. Kohli showed his captaincy caliber immediately bringing on the spinners Ashwin and Misra who between them cleaned up the tail and Sri Lanka folded up for 268 117 runs behind. Ashwin took 4 for 69 but it was Ishant Sharma who terrorized the Sri Lankan batsmen with his pace and guile and his figures of 3 for 32 do not tell the full story. This is India s first away series victory after they failed to win against Australia South Africa England New Zealand and Bangladesh during the last four years. Scores India 312 all out and 274 all out Sri Lanka 201 all out and 268 all out Mathews 110 Perera 70 Ashwin 4 for 69 Sharma 3 for 32
